High Force Waterfall

Situated within the Upper Teesdale countryside in the North Pennines Natural Landscapes. Surrounded by a stunning, upland landscape the area offers wide-open moors, flower-rich hay meadows, intimate woods, inky-black night skies, curious wildlife, fascinating industrial heritage and tumbling rivers. The awe-inspiring 21-metre cascade is just a few minutes’ walk from The High Force Hotel, allowing guests to enjoy exclusive out of hours access to the waterfall. Artist J.M.W. Turner painted the waterfall in 1822 and the scenic location continues to draw visitors back to enjoy a colour palette that changes over all four seasons, from the bright blue summer skies, orange autumnal colours, crisp icy winter mornings and vibrant greens of nature bursting to life in spring.

A Note From TheCreative Director

A black and white headshot of a young man looking to the side with neutral expression.

High Force Waterfall is a prime example of the sheer, earth-changing power of water. Heard before being seen, the imposing feature emanates an invigorating energy to it, and the paradoxical nature of both erosion and formation is unquestionably on clear display.
