La Terra

Italian for 'the earth', La Terra is an intimate, contemplative observation into the animal condition, with a meditative approach using modern technology, whilst retaining the stark black and white contrast and grain of the film years.

Inspired by the works of Bèla Tarr (The Turin Horse, Sátántangó), La Terra observes the living spaces between the low sun and frost, the overcast winds and sleet. With a greater emphasis on visual narration, this collection aims to focus in on simplicity and stillness against the complex stimulation of the modern world, with an overarching element of Nostalgia harking to the golden years of traditional filmmaking which mirrors the ancient tales of animals inhabiting the earth
